Mariah Carey to release 2 new music cd's
in '07
Mariah Carey is slated to releaze two CDs
in '07, according to UMG Chief Executive Doug Morris.
Maria's release of The Emancipation of Mimi
was the top grossing CD of 2005 for the French-owned media
group and fed consumer anticipation for her future recordings.
"I think that next year we're going to have our best
year," Morris said at the Reuters Media
Summit in New York. "I think our revenues and our profits
will be the best we've ever had."
Maria's two as-yet-untitled scheduled releases along with
releases from both 50Cent and Eminem are expected to be the
benchmark for success for the music group in '07.
Morris went on to note that Universal expects to see significant
revenue from digital sources including Apple's iTunes
music service and mobile phone ring tones.
"We're going to make money from MySpace, we're going
to make money from YouTube, we're going to make money from
Zune," says Morris. "We will make a tremendous amount
of money from telephones."
